The attached ordinance amends several sections of the Village Code. The primary purpose of the ordinance is to codify the changes the Board approved related to the Electrical Commission and compensation for Boards and Commission members.

Specifically, the ordinance will delete the section related to the Electrical Commission, amend the section related to members of the Building Code Review Board to add a licensed electrician, and change the references to compensation for the commissions that contain them to state that the members serve without compensation. The changes to compensation take effect on January 1, 2020.

In addition, besides the change relating to compensation, there are three housekeeping changes in the section for the Board of Fire and Police Commission. These are corrections of job titles, deletion of a reference to a liaison committee of the Village Board, and inclusion of a statement related to public records.

Recommendation

It is recommended that the Village Board approved the attached Ordinance Amending Chapter 6 of the Arlington Heights Municipal Code.
