The approved 2019 Capital Budget includes $275,000 for the replacement of the Village's wheel loader. The current machine was purchased in 2000, and is due for replacement. The machine is used daily for loading and moving stock piles, gravel, cold-mix, and salt, at the Public Works facility on Ridge. The Fleet Unit has inspected the current wheel loader and deemed replacement is necessary. This wheel loader will be sold per Village guidelines by auction.
The proposed wheel loader will be purchased through Sourcewell (formerly NJPA), a joint purchasing cooperative similar to NWMC that uses multiple government agencies and collaborative purchasing to obtain more competitive bid pricing.
Sourcewell has awarded Komatsu the contract for wheel loaders. The local vendor is Roland Machinery Co. of Bolingbrook, IL. The Komatsu Model WA320-8 Wheel Loader with the required options costs $206,988.84. Staff has tested this model and recommends award.
Funding for this equipment purchase is available in Account No. 621-9003-572.50-05 (VH9501).
