The approved 2019 Capital Budget includes $119,900 for the replacement of a 5-Ton Dump Truck for the Public Works Department.  The current truck is 12 years old and is scheduled for replacement.  The dump truck is used by the Utility Division for hauling material for watermain repairs and other utility projects.  The Public Works - Fleet Unit has inspected the current vehicle and recommends replacement. The current dump truck will be sold by auction, per Village guidelines.

The Village will be utilizing the State contract for this proposed purchase. The current State of Illinois contract for heavy-duty trucks is with Rush Truck Centers of Springfield, Illinois.  The International Series HV607 5-Ton Dump Truck cost is $117,984, and the bid is under budget. The Village has worked successfully with this vendor in the past.  Staff recommends award to Rush Truck Centers.

Funds are available for this purchase in Account No. 621-9003-572.50-05 (VH9502).

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Village Board award the purchase of the International 5-Ton Dump Truck to Rush Truck Centers of Springfield, Illinois in an amount not-to-exceed $117,984, and authorize Staff to execute necessary documents.
