On July 10, 2014, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (MWRD) adopted Article 8 of the Watershed Management Ordinance (WMO), which sets forth the requirements of the Infiltration and Inflow (I/I) Control Program that applies to all separate sanitary sewer systems tributary to the MWRD system. I/I is the introduction of storm water into separate sewers. The primary objective of the I/I Control Program is to mitigate and manage the unnecessary flow of storm water into the sanitary sewer system. The program must be complete and in place by March 1, 2020.

One of the requirements to meet the WMO is for the Village to adopt amendments to the Village’s Sewer Ordinance (Chapter 22 of the Municipal Code). The attached ordinance meets the requirements of the WMO. The entirety of the text reflects new language, therefore no redlined copy of the code has been provided.  

Recommendation 

It is recommended that the Village Board adopt the attached Ordinance Amending Chapter 22 of the Municipal Code.
