School District 25 has requested additional traffic control at the intersection of Highland Ave and Park St by South Middle School. The intersection is currently controlled by a two-way stop with Highland Ave stopping for Park St. Additionally, a crossing guard is stationed at this intersection to assist with students crossing Park St. A traffic count was completed to measure vehicles, pedestrians and bicycles entering the intersection. The data revealed a significantly high volume of pedestrians and a  high combined volume of vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle count for several hours throughout the day.  Based on this evaluation, all way stop control is warranted.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the attached Ordinance Designating a Four-Way Stop Street at Highland Avenue and Park Street be approved.
