The approved 2020 Capital Budget includes $39,768 for the replacement of one Hybrid SUV for the Fire Department.  The proposed vehicle is a 2020 Ford Interceptor Hybrid SUV.  The current SUV is in excess of 15 years old, and the Fleet Unit of Public Works has deemed the vehicle in need of replacement.  If this award is approved, the existing vehicle will be sold at auction per Village requirements.

Staff is proposing to purchase the 2020 Ford Interceptor vehicle through the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative (SPC).  SPC is a joint purchasing program for local communities.  SPC represents 143 municipalities in a six County Area of Northern Illinois, and is administered through the Northwest Municipal Conference. By bidding out common vehicles and services, the SPC is able to offer lower prices through greater economies of scale.  Currie Motors Fleet of Frankfort, IL is the SPC low bidder.

Funds for this purchase are available in Account No. 621-9003-572.50-05 (VH9504).

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended the Village Board award the purchase of a 2020 Ford Interceptor Utility vehicle at a not-to-exceed price of $39,074 to Currie Motors Fleet of Frankfort, Illinois, and authorize staff to execute the necessary documents.
