The approved 2020 Capital Budget includes $29,999 for the replacement of a Police Department vehicle for the Criminal Investigation Bureau Detectives. The proposed vehicle is a 2020 Chevrolet Traverse SUV.

The current vehicle is in excess of ten years old, and has exceeded its useful live as a Police vehicle. The Fleet Unit of Public Works has inspected this vehicle, and determined it is in need of replacement. The current vehicle will be surplused in accordance with Village guidelines.

The total cost for the Traverse SUV is $29,328. Staff proposes to purchase this vehicle through the State Police Contract #19-416CMS-BOSS4-P-11941.This year's winning bidder for this vehicle is Mile's Chevrolet, LLC of Decatur, IL.

Funds are available for this purchase in Account No. 621-9003-572.50-05 (VH9503).

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Village Board approve the purchase of a 2021 Chevrolet Traverse SUV from Mile's Chevrolet, LLC of Decatur, Illinois, in an amount not-to-exceed of $29,328 and authorize staff to execute the necessary documents.
