The reconstruction of Commuter Drive along the south side of the Union Pacific Railroad tracks west of the Arlington Park Train Station was completed in 2015. As part of the joint project between the Village of Arlington Heights and the City of Rolling Meadows, both municipalities agreed to swap parcels of land to better define the municipal boundaries and jurisdiction over the completed Commuter Drive.

Attached is a Plat of Dedication showing a parcel of land west of Illinois Route 53 currently located within the Village of Arlington Heights to be dedicated by the Village of Arlington Heights to the City of Rolling Meadows.

Also attached is a Plat of Dedication showing a parcel of land east of Illinois Route 53 currently located within the City of Rolling Meadows to be dedicated by the City of Rolling Meadows to the Village of Arlington Heights.

The attached ordinance will complete the Village’s agreed upon dedication of land to the City of Rolling Meadows, making ownership and maintenance of Commuter Drive west of IL 53 the jurisdiction of the City of Rolling Meadows. Additionally, the ordinance has the Village accepting the City's agreed upon dedication of land to the Village of Arlington Heights, making ownership and maintenance of Commuter Drive east of IL 53 the jurisdiction of the Village of Arlington Heights.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the attached Ordinance Dedicating a Portion of Public Right-of-Way and Accepting a  Plat of Dedication for a  Portion of Public Right-of-Way for portions of Commuter Drive be approved.
