The approved 2020 Capital Improvement Program includes $2,900,000 for the reconstruction/rehabilitation of approximately 1.76 miles of streets. The scheduled work entails:

         (5)  Street segments to be fully reconstructed

         (3)  Street segments that will be widened and fully reconstructed

On April 13, 2020, bids for the 2020 MFT Street Reconstruction & Rehabilitation Program, IDOT Section #20-00214-00-00-PV, were publicly opened and read aloud.  The bid tabulation is as follows:

Builder's Paving submitted the low bid.  This would be the Village's first time working with Builder's Paving, Inc.; however, Builder's Paving has successfully performed IDOT roadwork in Arlington Heights, most recently on Palatine Road, from Northwest Highway in Palatine to Arlington Heights Road. References were also verified for municipal work in other communities. Therefore, Staff recommends award to the lowest responsible bidder, Builder's Paving of Hillside, IL.

If approved, the project will begin in mid to late May. The project is estimated to be substantially complete in August. The landscaping will be completed in Septemberor when weather conditions permit.

Funds are available in the following accounts:

Motor Fuel Tax Fund 211-7101-571.50-40 (ST9009)  $2,400,000

Capital Projects - Street Program 401-7101-571.50-30 (ST9008) $498,000

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Village Board award the 2020 MFT Street Rehabilitation/Reconstruction Project contract to Builder's Paving, LLC of Hillside, Illinois in the not-to-exceed amount of $2,898,000 and authorize the execution of the necessary documents.
