The Village’s ability to hold the Mane Event and Taste of Arlington this year has been in doubt for some time. The Restore Illinois Plan put into effect by the State of Illinois prevents festivals from occurring until Stage 5, which cannot occur until a Covid-19 vaccine or treatment is widely available. Given the unlikelihood of a treatment or a vaccine becoming widely available this fall, and the large amount of logistical support and staff time that is required to host such events, the cost of the two events- typically around $80,000, and our desire to avoid putting our residents at risk, Staff recommends the cancellation of the Mane Event and Taste of Arlington in 2020.
