The 2020 Resurfacing Program & Sidewalk Program includes the resurfacing of 6.8 miles of asphalt streets, including Waterman Avenue (Thomas Street to Sherwood Avenue) and Russetwood Drive (Waterman Avenue to Thomas Street) which are eligible for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. The program also includes the reconstruction of a section of the rear parking lot in concrete for Fire Station No. 2, and the resurfacing of the remainder of the parking lot.

Bids were duly advertised, and of the five plan holders, three bids were received and publicly opened on May 27, 2020 for the 2020 Resurfacing Program & Sidewalk Program. The bids received and the Engineer’s Estimate for the Base Bid, CDBG Streets, and Fire Station No. 2 are as follows:

Builders Paving, LLC was the lowest responsible bidder and was recently awarded the Village’s 2020 MFT Reconstruction Program, References were verified prior to award of the reconstruction contract.  Staff recommends award in the amount of $3,038,000. Upon approval, this work could begin in mid-June.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Village Board award the 2020 Resurfacing Program & Sidewalk Program contract to Builders Paving, LLC of Hillside, Illinois, in the amount of $3,038,000 and authorize staff to execute the necessary documents.
