In 2018 the Village Board approved the South Arlington Heights Road Corridor Plan, which established a vision for the area with specific recommendations to implement. One recommendation was to evaluate the use of tax increment financing to stimulate and guide redevelopment along this one mile corridor. The Village hired Kane McKenna and Associates to conduct this analysis and develop the TIF District Redevelopment Plan. The Joint Review Board, consisting of the various taxing districts, met on May 5, 2020 and found that the area meets the qualification criteria as a TIF District and recommended approval of the TIF Redevelopment Plan.
A public meeting was held by the Redevelopment Commission on May 27, 2020 where Commissioner Lorenzini moved and Commissioner Cherwin seconded:
A motion to recommend approval of the South Arlington Heights Road Tax Increment Financing Redevelopment Plan and Project and related ordinances.
Roll Call Vote: Commissioners Cherwin, Warskow, Sigalos, Green, Lorenzini, Drost and Chair Dawson voted in favor. Motion carried.
