The Police Department has recommended a 25 mph speed limit for East Olive St between N Douglas Ave and N Windsor Dr for consistency as there is an existing 25 mph speed limit in place on East Olive St from Arlington Heights Rd to Douglas Ave and on East Olive St between Windsor Dr and Rand Rd. 

In addition, a 25 mph speed limit is recommended on East Brittany Dr between N Arlington Heights Rd and N Highland Ave and West Brittany Dr between N Dunton Ave and N Highland Ave. The results of a speed study show the average speeds were high for a residential street. Taking into consideration the proximity of an elementary school, a 25 mph speed limit is warranted.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the attached Ordinance Establishing a 25 mph Speed Limit on East Olive Street between N Douglas Ave and N Windsor Dr and on East Brittany Drive between N Arlington Heights Rd and N Highland Ave and on West Brittany Drive between N  Dunton Ave and N Highland Ave be approved.
