Public Works continues to increase our use of liquid deicer in Snow & Ice Operations.  Liquids increase the effectiveness of road salt and reduce the waste from the applied salt bouncing off the roadway.  Liquids are also used in anti-icing operations as a preventative method to reduce the bond between ice and the roadway.

On October 20, 2017, the Village Board awarded a three-year contract, with three optional one-year extensions to Industrial Systems LTD of Lakemoor, Illinois, at bid price of .6680/gallon for liquid deicer. 

Per the contract terms, staff is recommending the first of three possible one-year extensions.  The vendor has agreed to hold current prices and have not requested an increase. Staff has been satisfied with the product and services provided by Industrial Systems.

Funds for this material are available in Account No. 101-7101-531.31-90.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Village Board award a one-year contract extension to Industrial Systems Ltd. of Lakemoor, Illinois, at the unit price up to the budgeted amount $99,000, and authorize staff to execute the necessary documents.
