The approved 2020 Capital Budget includes $37,023 for the replacement of a Police Department vehicle. The proposed vehicle is a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV.

The current vehicle is in excess of 12 years old and exceeded its useful life as a Police vehicle.  The PW Fleet Unit has inspected this vehicle, and determined it is in need of replacement. The current vehicle will be repurposed to the Village's Pool Vehicle Program, and an older pool vehicle will be surplused in accordance with Village guidelines. 

Staff is proposing to purchase the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV at a cost of $39,172.77. The cost of the replacement is over budget, but the overall 2020 Police Vehicle Replacement budget can accommodate the overage. Staff will update the actual replacement cost for our future budgets.

Staff proposes to purchase the Tahoe through the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative (SPC). SPC is a joint purchasing program for local communities. The SPC represents 143 municipalities in the six County area of Northern Illinois, and is administered through the Northwest Municipal Conference. This year's winning bidder is Currie Motors Chevrolet of Forest Park, IL.

Funds are available for this purchase in Account No. 621-9003-572.50-05 (VH9503).

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Village Board approve the purchase of a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV from Currie Motors Chevrolet of Forest Park, Illinois, in an amount not-to-exceed $39,172.77 and authorize staff to execute the necessary documents.
