The approved 2021 Capital Budget includes $43,560 for the replacement of a patrol vehicle in the Police Department. The proposed vehicle is a 2021 Dodge Charger Sedan vehicle and will replace a Police Interceptor and is designed to be an unmarked patrol squad.
The current vehicle is in excess of five years old by the time it is replaced and has exceeded its useful life as a Police vehicle. The Fleet Unit of Public Works has inspected this vehicle and determined it is in need of replacement. The current vehicle will be repurposed to the Village's Pool Vehicle Program, or will be surplused in accordance with Village guidelines.
Staff is proposing to purchase the 2021 Dodge Charger Sedan vehicle at a cost of $28,350.
Staff proposes to purchase this vehicle through the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative (SPC). SPC is a joint purchasing program for local communities. The SPC represents 143 municipalities in the six County area of Northern Illinois, and is administered through the Northwest Municipal Conference. This year's winning bidder is Roesch Truck Center of Elmhurst, IL. The Village has worked with Roesch Truck Center in the past and found them to be acceptable.
Funds are available for this vehicle purchase in Account No. 621-9003-572.50-05 (VH9503).
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Village Board approve the purchase of the 2021 Dodge Charger Police Sedan vehicle from Roesch Truck Center of Elmhurst, Illinois, in an amount not-to-exceed $28,350 and authorize staff to execute the necessary documents.
