The 2021 approved budget includes $2,093,000 for the rehabilitation of the water tank at Well #13. Well #13 is located at 3702 N. Kennicott Avenue and consists of two 6-million gallon water storage tanks. The South tank requires maintenance repairs to the roof support, and painting of the interior/exterior of the tank.  It is critical that the design and specifications are of the highest quality to ensure the best quality of work and minimization of change orders during the construction phase.

Robinson Engineering Ltd. has previously performed these design and specification services for the Village on water tank projects, and staff was pleased with their services.  The Water Tank Division of Robinson Engineering has changed names and is now known as Four Bridges LLC.

The consultant, Four Bridges LLC, will prepare bid specifications with appropriate detailed plans, and facilitate a pre-bid meeting for project coordination and clarification to potential contractors. Services will also include bid evaluations and preliminary contractor research for a low qualified bid recommendation, and construction observation during the project. The cost for Four Bridges LLC related services is $81,800. The budget for the project is $2,093,000.

Funding for these services is available in Account No. 505-9001-571.50-25 (WA1101).

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Village Board award a professional services contract for design, bid assistance, and construction observation services to Four Bridges LLC, in the amount of $81,800 and authorize staff to execute the necessary documents.
