The approved 2021 Capital Budget includes $38,200 for the replacement of one pickup truck in the Fire Department.  The proposed vehicle is a 2022 Ford F-250 XL Pickup Truck with a covered bed. The current truck is in excess of 12 years old, and the Fleet Unit of Public Works has deemed the vehicle in need of replacement. If this award is approved, the existing vehicle will be repurposed within the Fire Department as the reserve command vehicle, replacing the repurposed Ford Escape hybrid that they are currently utilizing in this capacity. 

Staff is proposing to purchase the vehicle through the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative (SPC).  SPC is a joint purchasing program for local communities.  SPC represents 143 municipalities in a six County Area of Northern Illinois, and is administered through the Northwest Municipal Conference. By bidding out common vehicles and services, the SPC is able to offer lower prices through greater economies of scale. Currie Motors Fleet of Frankfort, IL is the SPC low bidder on this vehicle.

Funds for this purchase are available in Account No. 621-9003-572.50-05 (VH9504).

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Village Board approve the purchase of a 2022 Ford F-250 XL Pickup Truck, in an amount not-to-exceed $38,155 from Currie Motors Fleet of Frankfort, Illinois, and authorize staff to execute the necessary documents.
