The Public Works Department has an existing contract with Flecks Landscaping of Wheeling, IL for Stump Removal and Landscape Restoration Services. The current three-year contract expires on March 20, 2022. This contract covers the routine removal of parkway tree stumps due to storms, hazardous conditions, or natural decline. Every year, Public Works contractually removes approximately 450 tree stumps throughout the community, after the trees have been removed.

Per policy, successful contractors can be permitted up to three one-year extensions with Village Board approval. Staff has been pleased with Flecks efficiency and quality of work.  

Staff is requesting approval for the second of three possible contract extensions. This extension would be for March 21, 2022 to March 20, 2023. The contractor has offered to extend the contract without an increase in price.

Funding for these services is available in Account No. 101-7101-531.21-55, having a budget amount of $127,000.

RECOMMENDATION 

It is recommended that the Village Board award a one-year contract extension to Flecks Landscaping of Wheeling, Illinois for Stump Removal and Landscape Restoration per unit bid prices, up to the budgeted amount, in accordance with original contract terms, and authorize staff to execute the necessary documents.
