BACKGROUND

The Illinois Horse Racing Act (230 ILCS 5/19), provides that horse racing on Sundays is prohibited unless authorized by ordinance or referendum of the municipality in which the race track is located. Tony Petrillo, General Manager of Arlington Park Racecourse, has requested that the Village allow Arlington Park to conduct horse racing on Sundays.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that An Ordinance Granting Authority for Thoroughbred Racing on Sundays During the Racing Season, be approved.
