BACKGROUND

During a recent certification inspection, it was determined that Fire Department Aerial Ladder Truck #432 needs to have the electronic/hydraulic rotary coupler replaced. This coupler allows the transfer of all electronic and hydraulic signals between the ladder and the truck as the ladder rotates 360 degrees. This critical piece of equipment needs to be put back in service as soon as possible.  Staff received the following three quotes for the necessary work:

Global Emergency Products, Aurora IL                                            $12,027.55

Wirfs Industries Inc., Mchenry IL                                                      $13,054.00

Certified Fleet Services, Elmhurst IL                                                $19,760.00

Global is the only authorized dealer in the area and Staff has successfully worked with them in the past. 

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Village Board waive competitive bids and approve the proposal from Global Emergency Products for emergency repairs to Aerial Ladder Truck #432 in an amount not to exceed $12,027.55. Funds are available in account 621-7501-551-2107.
