The FY22 Capital budget includes $270,217 for the replacement of seven Police Department vehicles. These vehicles were approved previously at the February 21, 2022, and the April 4, 2022, Village Board meetings. The Village was recently notified that all of our Police Interceptor orders in 2022 were cancelled and given a priority status in 2023 production.  With the new model year comes a price increase, which results in a price increase for all seven vehicles of $33,764. 

The Village recently transferred surplus funds to the Fleet Fund in anticipation of increased vehicle costs due to supply chain issues.  Attached is an Ordinance amending the budget. As a result, Fleet Fund reserves are available to accommodate this overage. Funds for this purchase are available in Account No. 621-9003-572.50-05 (VH9503).

Staff recommends approving this Change Order in the amount $33,764 to Currie Motors of Frankfort, IL for the price increase associated with the current order for seven Police Interceptors, and approving the Ordinance amending the budget.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Village Board approve the Police Pursuit Vehicles Change Order No. 1, in the amount of $33,764 to Currie Motors of Frankfort, Illinois, and authorize Staff to execute the necessary documents. It is also recommended that the Village Board approve the attached Ordinance amending the 2022 Fleet Budget by $33,800.
