BACKGROUND  

The approved FY15 Capital Budget includes $27,500 for the replacement of a SUV vehicle for the Public Works Department - Sewer Unit.  Employees have requested that the current SUV be replaced with a pickup truck.  Management Staff agreed with this request, as it will fall within budget and it will be more versatile for the Sewer Unit.  This purchase replaces Unit #1221, a 2002 Chevy Blazer that has reached the end of its useful life.

Staff is proposing to utilize the Joint Purchasing Contract provided by the Northwest Municipal Conference (NWMC) Suburban Purchasing Cooperative bid for F150's which was awarded to Freeway Ford of Lyons, Illinois. The NWMC Suburban Purchasing Cooperative (SPC), a cooperative of 135 municipalities in Northern Illinois, offers Joint Bidding Services to its members.  By bidding common services and products, the SPC is able to offer lower prices through greater economies of scale. The total cost for the vehicle is $23,568.  

RECOMMENDATION  

It is recommended that the Village Board approve the purchase of a 2014 Ford F150 Pickup Truck to Freeway Ford of Lyons, IL in an amount not to exceed $23,568.
