MFT is a per gallon tax collected by the State specifically for the purpose of performing maintenance on local roadways and is distributed to municipalities on a per capita basis. The Village of Arlington Heights allocates this funding toward Traffic Signal Maintenance and the Roadway Reconstruction Program. 

As part of the 2023 budget process, the Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) fund included funds for Contractual Traffic Signal Maintenance. Attached is the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) Motor Fuel Tax Resolution for Maintenance Under the Illinois Highway Code appropriating funds for 2023 Traffic Signal.

Funding for this expenditure will come from the Public Works MFT Account No. 211-7101-550400 (SG0302).

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Village Board adopt the Resolution for Maintenance under the Illinois Highway Code and appropriate $119,100 and authorize Staff to execute the necessary submittals.
