The 2023 Public Works Operating Budget includes $332,500 for contractual landscape maintenance. Public Property Mowing accounts for $150,000 of this annual budget. The Village's contract covers approximately 70 acres of property at 91 public sites throughout the community. The Village is responsible for maintenance of these areas, which includes mowing, edging, aerating, and general litter removal.

On April 6, 2020, a three-year contract was approved with Apex Landscaping of Hawthorn Woods, IL, for Public Property Mowing. Per Village policy, successful contractors can be permitted up to three one-year contract extensions with Village Board approval. Staff has been satisfied with the quality of work provided by the contractor.

Staff is requesting approval for the first of three possible one-year contract extensions. This extension would begin in January 2023 and end in December 2023. The contractor has offered to extend the contract with a price increase of 3.4%, which is within contract terms.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Village Board award a one-year contract extension for Public Property Mowing to Apex Landscaping of Hawthorn Woods, Illinois, per original contract terms, and authorize Staff to execute necessary documents.
