An ambulance and a ladder truck budgeted in FY2014 were ordered and prepaid (as is the practice for specialized vehicles of this type). These vehicles were not delivered by the end of that fiscal year and it was necessary to reclassify the expense to the current fiscal year.

The ladder truck expenditure is $1,003,700 and the ambulance expenditure is $226,160 for a total of $1,229,860. Because there is no budget in Fiscal Year 2015 for these vehicles, a budget amendment should be made at this time. The funds for this expenditure remain available in fund balance.    

Recommendation

Recommend to the Board of Trustees that the Fire Department Vehicle Equipment budget (621-9003-572.50-05 VH-95-04)  be amended in the amount of $1,229,860 with the use of fund balance.
