BACKGROUND
The Capital Roof Maintenance budget is established every year to repair or replace roofs of public buildings. This year the replacement of a portion of the roof of the Public Works building is included in the FY15 Capital Projects budget. The existing Public Works roof consists of a built-up coal tar pitched construction. In 2014, roof cores were taken that showed some moisture penetration.
The Police Center roof is a modified bituminous single ply constructed roof that showed significant moisture penetration. Repairs to the Police Center were not budgeted, but are needed to keep the facility weather tight.
On September 30th, 2014, a bid opening was held and six bids were publicly opened and read aloud. The bid tabulation is attached.
The bids ranged from $161,150 to $355,000 with DCG Roofing of Des Plaines, IL as the lowest responsible bidder for the Public Works facility, and JL Adler Roofing of Joliet, IL for the Police Center repair.
Village staff has positive past experience with both companies and recommends award.
