The approved 2024 Capital Budget includes $63,297 for replacing a Police Department forensic crime scene vehicle. The proposed vehicle is a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado Pickup Truck.
 
The current vehicle is five years old and has exceeded its useful life for daily Police operations. This determination was confirmed when the Fleet Services Unit technicians inspected the current forensic crime scene vehicle and independently concluded it was ready for replacement. While the vehicle is no longer suitable for the Police Department, it will either be repurposed for the Village's Pool Vehicle Program, transitioned to another Village Department, or surplused under Village guidelines. 
 
Staff proposes purchasing a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado Pickup Truck for $55,752 through the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative (SPC). SPC is a joint purchasing cooperative administered by the Northwest Municipal Conference (NWMC) and represents 143 municipalities in the Chicagoland area. SPC uses multiple government agencies and collaborative purchasing to obtain competitive bid pricing. Currie Motors Chevrolet of Forest Park, Illinois, holds the SPC contract for the Chevrolet Silverado Pickup Truck.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Village Board approve the purchase of a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado Pickup Truck from Currie Motors Chevrolet of Forest Park, Illinois, in an amount not-to-exceed $55,752 and authorize Staff to execute the necessary documents.
