Resolution approving agreements with School District 25 concerning public safety video surveillance systems.
The Police Department recently implemented a multi-faceted real-time information system which includes the ability to integrate video and data from multiple sources into a single platform, increasing situational awareness to allow for a right-sized initial police response to active incidents. The system combines private and public video streams into a single feed for sworn law enforcement personnel, creating a common operating picture. In furtherance of the Police Department’s goal of providing exceptional public safety and security to School District 25 students, employees and properties, a proposal was presented offering the opportunity to integrate existing district video surveillance systems with the Police Department. Law enforcement access to integrated feeds is restricted to only those times a 911 call is placed from the school property. The resulting collaboration, as outlined in the attached agreements, will enhance response to public safety issues and emergencies, allowing critical decisions to be made using real time information and awareness.
