Pursuant to recent retirements and resignations, the Police Department examined opportunities for enhanced efficiencies in the overall organizational structure of the Department. Significant attention and consideration for evolving workloads and minimum supervisory staffing during the review resulted in the identification of an opportunity for a moderate organizational restructuring within the Police Department.
The proposed organizational restructuring, centered on a change from three (3) to two (2) Departmental Divisions, allows the opportunity to allocate additional supervisory and management-level resources to operational units. In addition to a more effective workload balance, a significant reduction in overtime expenditures for minimum supervisory staffing is expected. A budget amendment, in the amount of $41,800.00, for FY24 Police Department General Fund Account Number 101-3001-511640 - Police Supervision is necessary to accommodate the proposed changes.
Recommendation
Village staff recommends the Village Board approve an Ordinance amending Account 101-3001-511640 of the Annual FY24 Budget of the Village of Arlington Heights in the amount of $41,800.00.
