The Village and Police Department are proud to introduce the newest member of the public safety team, K9 Atlas. K9 Atlas and his handler, Officer Jeffrey Heffernan, graduated from the Kane County Sheriff’s Department K9 Academy on June 7th, 2024. The rigorous 8-week training program, covering topics such as obedience, agility, tracking, searches, handler protection, criminal apprehension and drug detection culminated in State of Illinois Certification as a dual-purpose canine.
Mayor Tom Hayes will be administering the Police Officer Oath of Office to K9 Atlas, to signify the start of his career with the Arlington Heights Police Department and service to the Village of Arlington Heights community.
