The Fire Department currently has 11 Bullard and 10 Scott thermal imaging cameras.  As the cameras are replaced, the Department has been transitioning to all Bullard cameras because they are better cameras utilizing newer technology, and using one brand of camera helps to assure consistency in training and at fire incidents.  The Department would now like to purchase new cameras to replace three older Scott cameras which have reached the end of their service life.

Essential Equipment Solutions, Inc. in St. Charles is the only area distributor for Bullard equipment and provides local service facilitating quick turnaround when the cameras need service. 

The cost for each Bullard Eclipse LD thermal imaging camera with desktop charger, two batteries, super red hot colorization, temperature measurement, retractable lanyard and a two-year warranty is $8,200, for a total cost of $24,600 for the three cameras.  

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Village Board waive formal bidding procedures since this is a sole source item and approve the purchase of three Bullard Eclipse LD thermal imaging cameras with accessories from Essential Equipment Solutions, Inc. in St. Charles, Illinois for a total cost of $24,600. The vendor has been determined to be responsible and meets specifications.
