BACKGROUND

The FY15 Capital Budget includes $149,500 for the replacement of four 3/4 ton 4X4 pickup trucks with plows for various units within the Public Works Department.  One pickup is designated for the PW Utility Division and three are for the Maintenance Division.  Three of the pickup trucks include a lift mechanism in the tailgate to aid lifting of heavy materials.  These vehicles are used for daily maintenance and for snow & ice control during the winter months.

The State offers a joint purchasing program through the Central Management Services (CMS) Department.  The program is open to local municipalities and offers reduced pricing due to statewide volume purchasing. The lowest bid for the pickup trucks is from Bob Ridings Fleet Sales of Taylorville, IL for a total cost of $122,240.

Sufficient funds are available and Staff recommends approval.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Village Board award the purchase of four 3/4 ton pickup trucks to Bob Ridings Fleet Sales of Taylorville, IL in the amount of $122,240 and authorize the execution of the contracts.
