BACKGROUND
The Village accounting software system was purchased in 1996 from H.T.E. In 2007, SunGard Public Sector, Inc. acquired H.T.E. and redeveloped the software package to offer its clients offsite/cloud computing solutions for the AS400 platform. This platform provides the Village with daily backups, system administration, system maintenance, and upgrades through SunGard's Application Service Provider (ASP) software. The Village accesses the system through a secure VPN internet connection.
SunGard Public Sector, Inc. is the sole provider for the AS400 software and equipment and has been determined to be a responsible vendor. Village Staff recommends entering into another five year agreement with SunGard to host and maintain our software on their offsite AS400 system. The agreement would run from January 1, 2015 through December 31, 2019 and reflects an increase of 1% per year. Funds are budgeted annually in account 625-0601-553-2039.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Village Board approve the five year ASP software and maintenance contract with SunGard Public Sector Inc., Lake Mary, FL in the amount of $924,635.56.
