BACKGROUND
The Arlington Downs development, as part of Planned Unit Development Ordinance Number 12-039, is required to install a bike path along Euclid Avenue. The City of Rolling Meadows (City) has long planned on establishing a link in their bike path system along Euclid Avenue between their existing path along Salt Creek and their existing path along Rohlwing Road. The City has recently obtained an Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP) funding assistance grant for the installation of the bike path along Euclid. The ITEP program will pay for 80% of the costs for this project. The remaining 20% is the local share, which will be split 50%-50% between the Village and the City.
At this time, Staff is only seeking approval of an Intergovernmental Agreement for the Phase I Engineering costs. The Village’s portion, which amounts to $5,575, will be funded from park contribution fees already collected from the Arlington Downs development.
The City of Rolling Meadows approved the Agreement at their December 23, 2014 meeting.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Village Board adopt the attached Resolution, approving an Intergovernmental Agreement with the City of Rolling Meadows for Phase I Engineering services for the Euclid Avenue Bike Path, with the Village’s contribution not-to-exceed $5,575.
