BACKGROUND

In an effort to prolong the life of the Village's Municipal parking structures, Public Works has prohibited the use of chlorides in our Snow and Ice Control Program on the parking decks. To improve effectiveness of our response, Public Works requested and received funding for non-chloride liquid deicer in FY2014-2015.

On December 9, 2014, the Village opened and publicly read aloud the following bids:

Staff has checked the provided references and is recommending approval to award the contract to Wellspring Management of Oak Park, IL for the purchase of non-chloride liquid deicer at a cost of $3.975/gallon. 

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Village Board award a contract to Wellspring Management of Oak Park, Illinois for the purchase of non-chloride liquid deicer in an amount not-to-exceed $3.975/gallon, up to a budgeted amount of $21,100.
