BACKGROUND
The approved FY15 Capital Budget includes $119,000 for the replacement of two 1-ton dump trucks in the Public Works Department. One-ton dump trucks are one of the Department's most heavily used vehicles, as they are used in all Public Work programs due to their versatility. The current trucks are over 12 years old and have exceeded their useful lives.
The State offers a joint purchasing program through the Central Management Services (CMS) Department. The program is open to local municipalities and offers reduced pricing due to statewide volume purchasing. The lowest bid for 1-Ton Cab & Chassis is from Bob Ridings Fleet Sales of Taylorville, IL for a total cost for two trucks of $62,220.
The Village will contract with a separate company to outfit the trucks with dump body, hydraulics and controls. The additional needed work will utilize the remainder of the budget.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Village Board award the purchase of two 1-Ton Dump Truck Cab & Chassis to Bob Ridings Fleet Sales of Taylorville, IL in the amount of $62,220 and authorize the execution of the contracts.
