BACKGROUND

The Fire Department currently has 14 Bullard and seven Scott thermal imaging cameras.  As the cameras are replaced, the Department has been transitioning to all Bullard cameras because they are better cameras utilizing newer technology, and using one brand of camera helps to assure consistency in training and at fire incidents.  The Department would now like to purchase new cameras to replace three older Scott cameras which have reached the end of their service life.

Essential Equipment Solutions, Inc. in St. Charles is the only local area distributor for Bullard equipment and provides local service facilitating quick turnaround when the cameras need service. 

The cost for each Bullard Eclipse LDX thermal imaging camera with desktop charger and five-year warranty, Super Red Hot Colorization, Temperature Measurement and heavy-duty retractable lanyard is $7,555, for a total cost of $22,665 for the three cameras.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Village Board waive formal bidding procedures and approve the purchase of three Bullard Eclipse LDX thermal imaging cameras with accessories from Essential Equipment Solutions, Inc. in St. Charles, Illinois, the sole local area distributor, for a total cost of $22,665. The vendor has been determined to be responsible and meets specifications.
