The Engineering Department contracts for material testing services each year for street, sidewalk, and maintenance projects.  In 2014, requests for proposals were solicited from four consultants.  Proposals for Material Testing Services were received on March 21, 2014 from three consultants, and the 2014 contract was awarded to CGMT, Inc.

Upon satisfactory completion of the 2014 Material Testing Services contract, the Village had the option of requesting an extension up to two more years, and CGMT, Inc. has agreed to extend the current pricing for the 2015 Material Testing Services. The funding for this work is included in the budget for the 2015 Resurfacing Program.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Village Board authorize an extension of the contract with CGMT, Inc. in the amount of $100,000 for material testing services for FY2015.  This firm has successfully completed the material testing services for the Village of Arlington Heights since 2011, as well as several other local municipalities.  The amount of the contract intentionally exceeds the estimated proposal so as to provide necessary flexibility as conditions warrant.
