BACKGROUND
The approved budget for the period ending December 31, 2015 includes $43,000 for the replacement of one 3/4-Ton Utility Truck for the Public Works Department. The current vehicle is used by the Sewer Unit of Public Works on a daily basis and is 12 years old. Fleet Unit personnel have inspected the current vehicle and deemed it in need of replacement. If this award is approved, the existing vehicle will be sold at auction per Village requirements.
The replacement vehicle comes with a utility box rather than the typical pickup truck bed. The utility box allows for storage and organization of the Sewer Unit's tools and equipment.
The proposed replacement vehicle would be purchased through the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative (SPC) a joint purchasing program for local communities. The SPC represents 143 municipalities in a six County Area of Northern Illinois and is administered through the Northwest Municipal Conference, the Dupage Mayors & Managers Conference, and the South Suburban Mayors & Managers Conference of the Will County Government League. Currie Motors of Frankfort, IL is this year's winning bidder. The Village has worked with Currie Motors in the past and found them to be acceptable.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Village Board award the bid to Currie Motors of Frankfort, Illinois in the amount of $32,261 for the purchase of one F-350 3/4-Ton Utility Truck for the Public Works Department and authorize the execution of the necessary contracts.
