BACKGROUND

In order to regulate stormwater discharges in the separate sewered areas of the Village, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources is requiring all municipalities to adopt an ordinance regulating illicit discharge into the sewers .

The Village has been enforcing these regulations with assistance from the Metropolitan Reclamation District of Great Chicago. This codification is a required formality as we already follow these regulations in both the Engineering and Public Works Departments.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Village Board approve the attached ordinance amending Chapter 22 of the Arlington Heights Municipal Code, adopting the Illicit Discharge Ordinance.
