The attached ordinance, which adopts the State statutes on criminal trespass, was prepared at the request of the Police Department. By adopting the State statutes, police officers will have the ability, should the circumstances warrant, to write a citation under the local ordinance instead of the State statute. That will allow for prosecution at the local level instead of by the State's Attorney. 

Recommendation

It is recommended that the Village Board adopt the attached Ordinance Amending Chapter 8 of the Arlington Heights Municipal Code.
