BACKGROUND
The Capital Roof Maintenance budget is established every year to repair or replace roofs of public buildings.
For the budget period ending December 31, 2015, three projects were identified. The roof at Well #16 requires a total replacement of the modified bitumen roof. The lower portion of the Pop Factory building at the Historical Museum requires a restoration of a built-up roof with a flood and gravel surface. The third project is simple maintenance and repairs of penetrations of the single-ply (EPDM) roof on the Administrative section of the Public Works Building. These projects were divided into two separately bid items with Well #16 as one project, and the Historical Museum roof and Public Works maintenance as a second project.
On September 29, 2015, two bid openings were held and six bids were received for both projects.
Historical Society Roof Restoration and Public Works Roof Maintenance
The bids ranged from $40,703 to $74,985 with RB Crowther Company of Morris, IL as the lowest responsible bidder for the Historical Society Roof Restoration and the Public Works Roof Maintenance.
Well #16 Roof Replacement
The bids ranged from $78,740 to $126,045 with Riddiford Roofing of Arlington Heights, IL as the lowest responsible bidder for the Well #16 complete Roof Replacement.
Village Staff checked with their references and found both companies to be acceptable.
Although Well #16 project number is $740 over budget there are sufficient funds in the account to cover the overage.
