BACKGROUND
The Capital Budget for the fiscal period ending December 31, 2015 includes $25,300 for the purchase of a 3/4 ton pickup truck for the Building Maintenance Unit of Public Works.
The current pickup truck is a 1999 Ford Ranger. This vehicle has been inspected by the Public Works Fleet Unit and has been deemed in need of replacement. If this award is approved, the current vehicle will be surplused according to Village policy.
The proposed pickup truck will be utilized by the Building Maintenance Foreman. The Building Maintenance Unit has requested a pickup truck larger than the current vehicle, which will be used to deliver equipment and materials to the various Municipal buildings as needed.
The Suburban Purchasing Cooperative (SPC) is a joint purchasing program for local communities. The SPC represents 143 municipalities in the six-county area of Northern Illinois and is administered through the Northwest Municipal Conference, DuPage Mayors & Managers Conference, the South Suburban Mayors & Managers Conference, and the Will County Government League. Roesch Ford Commercial Truck Center in Bensenville, IL was selected as the lowest bidder.
Although slightly over budget, the Fleet Fund has sufficient funds available in the current budget to accommodate the overage.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Village Board award the bid to Roesch Ford Commercial Truck Center of Bensenville, IL in the amount of $25,520 for the purchase of a 3/4 Ton Pickup Truck for the Public Works Department and authorize the execution of the necessary documents.
