Last year, Staff was notified that the State of Illinois had exclusive jurisdiction over the Plumbing Code and any different requirements from the State Code required approval from the State. The Village had adopted the 2004 State of Illinois Plumbing Code but had also adopted several requirements different from the State code. Staff reviewed the different requirements and determined that there were just a few that warranted seeking permission from the State to continue to apply. The State preliminarily approved those amendments. 

Accordingly, the attached ordinance essentially cleans up Chapter 24 of the Arlington Heights Municipal Code, which is titled Plumbing Regulations. Much of what was in the existing Chapter is already addressed in the State Code, so it is no longer needed. Sections that are not plumbing in nature but Staff felt should be maintained have been moved to appropriate chapters elsewhere in the Code. The proposed new Chapter 24 adopts the State Code plus the Village's approved amendments.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Village Board adopt the attached Ordinance Amending Chapters 11, 21, 22, and 24 of the Arlington Heights Municipal Code.
