BACKGROUND
The approved 2016 Fiscal Capital Budget includes $25,000 for the replacement of one utility vehicle in the Engineering Department. The current vehicle is a 2002 Chevrolet Blazer and is used for daily inspections at residential and commercial construction sites, as well as for internally managed road projects. The vehicle has been inspected by the Fleet Unit of Public Works, and recommended for replacement. The proposed vehicle is a 2017 Ford Escape.
Staff is proposing to purchase the vehicle through the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative (SPC). SPC is a joint purchasing program for local communities. SPC represents 143 municipalities in the six County area of Northern Illinois, and is administered through the Northwest Municipal Conference.
Currie Motors of Frankfort, IL is this year's winning bidder. The Village has worked with Currie Motors in the past and found them to be acceptable.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Village Board award the bid to Currie Motors of Frankfort, Illinois, in the amount of $19,439 for the purchase of one utility vehicle for the Engineering Department and authorize Staff to execute the necessary documents.
