BACKGROUND

The approved 2017 Fiscal Capital Budget includes $102,000 for the replacement of one 1-1/2 Ton Utility Body Truck for the Public Works Department.  The current vehicle is used by the Water Distribution Unit of Public Works on a daily basis.  The proposed vehicle is a 2017 Ford F-550 1-1/2 Ton Truck with Fiberglass Utility Body and Crane.  The current truck is in excess of 10 years old, and the Fleet Unit of Public Works has deemed the vehicle in need of replacement.  If this award is approved, the existing vehicle will be sold at auction per Village requirements.

Staff is proposing to purchase the vehicle through the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative (SPC).  SPC is a joint purchasing program for local communities.  SPC represents 143 municipalities in a six County Area of Northern Illinois, and is administered through the Northwest Municipal Conference.

Currie Motors of Frankfort, IL is this year's winning bidder.  The Village has worked with Currie Motors in the past and found them to be acceptable.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Village Board award the bid to Currie Motors of Frankfort, Illinois in the amount of $100,332 for the purchase of one Ford F-550 1-1/2 Ton Truck for the Public Works Department, and authorize the execution of the necessary documents.
