Item: Municipal Campus Storm Water Detention
Department: Planning & Community Development

In the budget for 2017, funds were placed in the storm water fund for the estimated cost of providing storm water detention on the Municipal campus as required by the adopted MWRD requirements.

This storm water detention will be constructed simultaneously with the Police Station.  The current Municipal Campus has no storm water detention on site and is almost 100% paved.  Providing detention on the campus is an improvement to the overall storm water management system.  The budget estimate prepared by FGM Architects as part of the 2015 feasibility study was for a new Police Station building only.  Therefore, funds were placed in the storm water management fund for the on-site storm water detention system.

On April 17, 2017 the Village Board approved Riley Construction bid package 3A for Abatement, demolition, site utilizes, electrical utilities, and storm water detention. The storm water detention portion of this amount is $749,604. When the aforementioned early bid package was approved by the Board in April, it was approved with funds coming from the Public Building Fund. However, the storm water detention amount should be funded from the Storm Water Detention Fund.

Recommendation

It is recommended that the Village Board approve allocation of the storm water detention portion of Early Bid Package 3A in the amount of $749,604 to be funded from the Storm Water Detention Fund instead of the Public Building Fund.
