| | | | | | | | | | | BACKGROUND:
The Engineering Department has contracted with Hampton, Lenzini & Renwick, Inc. (HLR) to assist Engineering Department staff with Construction Engineering Services for the 2018 Resurfacing Program & Sidewalk Program and 2018 MFT Reconstruction Program. The contract with HLR was approved at the February 19, 2018 Village Board meeting.
Due to the recent retirement of the Director of Engineering and the appointment of the Deputy Director as Interim Director of Engineering, various responsibilities will be reassigned to Engineering Department staff for the next few months to allow sufficient time for management to determine the long-term staffing needs of the Department. Since both road projects are currently under construction, the immediate need of the Department is additional assistance with construction observation. HLR has provided a quote for the same hourly rate and terms from the February contract to provide additional Construction Engineering Services for the months of July, August & September. HLR has successfully performed these services for the Village since 2014.
The additional funds are available in the Capital Projects Fund ST9008, Account No. 401-5001-571.50-30.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Village Board authorize the execution of Change Order No. 1, not to exceed $45,182, for additional construction observation assistance for July, August & September.
