On October 3, 2018, Unit #102, a Command vehicle for the Fire Department was involved in an accident.  The accident was severe enough that IRMA, the Village's insurance provider, determined the vehicle a total loss.  The 2010 Ford Escape vehicle was due for replacement in 2020 at a budget level of $39,768. 

Staff is proposing to purchase the 2020 Ford Interceptor vehicle through the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative (SPC).  SPC is a joint purchasing program for local communities.  SPC represents 143 municipalities in a six County Area of Northern Illinois, and is administered through the Northwest Municipal Conference. By bidding out common vehicles and services, the SPC is able to offer lower prices through greater economies of scale.  Currie Commercial Center of Frankfort, IL is the SPC low bidder.

Due to deferred replacements in the Fleet Fund and insurance claim proceeds, the Fleet Fund can accommodate the unbudgeted request.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended the Village Board award the purchase of a 2020 Ford Interceptor Utility vehicle at a not-to-exceed price of $35,809 to Currie Commercial Center of Frankfort, Illinois, and authorize staff to execute the necessary documents.
